GW:EN beta and/or testing. When and how?
Does anyone have any idea when the testing/beta for GW:EN might come out. It's probably still some time away but i was wondering. Also, how do you become part of it? I entered guildwars later then most other people, so i wasn't there when any of the expansions came out.

Do you mean public beta or private closed beta, in other words alpha testing?
If you mean the public, it will mostl likely take place a month before the release, and there won't be any PvP preview since no new profession is introduced (unless they change their minds until then, and add the Bard that was planned). The closed experimental alpha testing, which is a form of a test to find bugs and game mechanic problems started in January. And NO, you cannot become part of that any longer. |

They have mostly in house alpha testers. You'll have to wait it out like the rest of us!

Bard? That's pretty awesome. Any information on this would-have-been-profession? Was there not another being considered? I read rumours of Summoner and something else, but lost the pages before I could read further on possibilities of their would-have-been-confirmation.
Also, how do we get involved in the public beta-testing? I always heard about it after the fact, unfortunately. |

GW:EN is just an expansion. They may have a pre-view weekend but, I doubt they will have any Beta testers. However, if you are talking about GW2 then I am sure they will announce how to become a Beta tester for that.
I know when I was in the Beta's for Prof all you had to do was pre-order the game and then they had a weekend about 1 a month that you could get on and play. They may do it totally different this time or GW2 but, we will just have to wait and see. Last edited by kratimas; Mar 28, 2007 at 07:31 AM // 07:31.. |

They're not likely to have an Open(Public) Beta for GW:EN besides the preview weekend(s) a month or two before release. |

Since they are slashing back on new features there shouldn't be much need for a real beta.

@Kratimas : Its BETA not bata.......
About the BWE ( beta weekend events ) , those weren't special in any way besides just being one of the ones that played well before release, everyone could join in that and no you didn't have to pre-order. I think the reasons they did the BWE was because Guildwars was a completly new game with so many different things as other mmo ( WoW to give an example) they wanted people to play and see that its not like the others that it might indeed be something worth buying. |

How do you think one can become a Beta tester for GW2? I would hope that maybe we can apply through our accounts, and that maybe either account-wide XP or length of time that we've owned the game would slightly positively weigh our chances.

I presonally hope that GW2 beta selection wil; be like the Magic: The Gathering Online Beta selection process. (which has been incredibly effective)
That application form asks for your computer specs, your computer knowledge, and "why you want to be a Beta Tester." More importantly, that form also gives some sample MtG card combinations, and the expected effects of those interactions. Since Guild Wars is...significantly less complicated, that wouldn't apply. Forget my optimism. IT'S GOING TO BE A RANDOM DRAW OUT OF 20000ISH LIKE EVERY OTHER MMO. And no, it would never be based on XP or items gained. That's not game knowledge. That's time invested. No one cares. And for GWEN, it'll likely just be another WPE. Last edited by Zinger314; Mar 28, 2007 at 04:40 AM // 04:40.. |

Can't wait for MTGO III That's actually one of my other games I'm playing since the GW2 news has killed my interest in playing GW1. Can't wait for GW2! |
